Poldark

Every Monday morning there is much excitement and frivolity in the office.  The demographic of the office is women.  The topic is of a programme that occurs every Sunday evening causing the women to swoon and act like teenagers.

I'm sure this is occurring across the county, with offices and groups of friends all  getting swept up in the fever that is Poldark!

I haven't seen the programme myself I'm aware it is a remake and is based on the Cornish coast during the 18th century, it is about British Army Officer who returns after the American War of Independence to find his whole life has turned upside down in his absence.

Salads, Dressing, Egg & Mayonnaise

Discussions of food always come highly as one of the topics in he office. Currently a number of staff are on diets or "lose 12lbs in 2 weeks" get fit quick regimes.

Salad is one of the current hot topics with varieties and contents registering highly on the office chat thermometer.  There are two camps of those who prepare their own and those who head out to Subway each lunch time.

There's debates over egg in salad those for and those against nearly everyday the office smells of egg with some one shouting "it stinks".

Salad dressing causes much controversy what style, amount and another camp being set up for mayonnaise lovers.

Salas talk last for a good while.

The Early Finish

Highlight of today was when someone declared they had to go!

The member of staff jumped up from their seat at 3:20pm declaring they had to go home due to their partner needing the car.  There was a little bit of a flurry and gathering stuff up and a question asked to another member of staff "Do you think I'll get home for 5pm?" The response "Yesssssssss".

After the member of staff had left for the day we started to question as a team if she had the correct time, and where else could you get away with just leaving in the afternoon.

10 minutes had passed and a member of the team received a phone call from the person who had gone early saying she though it was 4:20pm and not 3:20pm....... raucous laughing ensued from the office.

Unannounced Buffet

Today whilst busy in the office we noticed a congregation of students appearing in the main reception area.  They brought with them trestle tables and chairs.

There was a chorus of noise as the tables arrived in the lift.  lots of people rallying around setting up in preparation.

Next to appear was a hot water urn.

Followed by a spread of food.

The chorus of people became louder, with laughter and joviality.  People larking around and dancing about eating and drinking.

They were asked by senior staff to move away from the reception but chose to ignore the request.  Food was being left half eaten all over the reception desk and area and hoards of people descended and crowded the foyer making the lifts, stairs and toilets in accessible.

We have no idea where these people came from or why they decided to use the foyer area outside the office, the only response we received was the room which had been booked was far too small for them to have the buffet in.

Left Items - is it a bomb!

Left luggage in the lifts, bags dumped in corridor, items of clothing handed in at reception.

All of these have been left but the best has to be the suitcase in the lift, it caused a big commotion with statements and questions like: -

"I'll go get it from the lift"
"The lift has gone to another floor now"
"Alert security"
"Press the panic button"
"It might be a bomb"
"is the lift back, is the suitcase still there?"
"oooo panic over the suitcase has gone"

This incident caused such a stir in the office that we are still talking about the incident now months later.

Aldi dishwasher tablets

A popular subject in the office is cleaning.  Recently a colleague recommend everyone in the office tries Aldi Magnum all in 1 dishwasher tablets, they cut through grease and hardened on food without the need for rinsing.

A number of colleagues tried the product over the weekend and said it was fabulous, far superior to Fairy and Finish.  Pots and glass wear all came out clean with no residue - there's no looking back.

(Apologies for no jokey punts today but I felt this needed to be reported)

He's 5 innit he?

Recently discussed an old colleague and the changes in her life.  The change to her hair seems to have people animated the census is it doesn't suit her complexion and makes her look old.

Talk soon turned to how she was getting on and how her young child was.  He's started walking no but he's as good as gold and doesn't touch anything, one of my colleagues blurted out we'll he's bound to be walking now and be good he's 5 years old!!!  The child is 20months so this had us in stitches for a longggggggggg time.
